1982 Golf C
MOT - 23/04/19 will get a fresh 12months
Engine and box. Started life in Holland as a 1.5 Auto but the previous owner has fitted a G60 5speed box. So more than ideal through town and on the motorways. Will quite happily stick with the modern traffic!
Paint and interior is all original although the front seats are from another Mk1 and are a bit tatty but they were a match to the rear bench unlike the seats that came with it upon purchase. She’s very patina’d and worn which I think suits the character of the car well. The only change is that it has a Mk1 Jetta dash, nice little mod, uses a different glovebox set up and has a gold/champagne accent that compliments the colour of the car.
Suspension and Wheels. Car is currently sat on a set of, what I believe are budget coilovers (I’ve not fitted these) with Coltech Classic raised top mounts. Wheels are 16x6.5” Renault steels with fairly decent 165/40/16 tyres.
Bad points. Every car has them!
There’s a very slight drain somewhere. If the cars left for more than about 2 weeks she’ll need a jump off. But this is has barely bothered me since I’ve either driven it daily or at least once a week. It’s obviously quite low, it’s very much drivable but speed bumps are tricky and the ride is a little harsh.
Other than that the cars pretty honest. She’s solid, has great character and a decent cruiser.
